Although the elderly are less active and need less energy from food than young adults, their nutrient requirement is just as important, if not more. Therefore, it is crucial that meals are planned for the elderly to ensure that they can receive their daily required servings of nutrients. Here are some guidelines that can help you during your meal planning for the elderly:
1. Select white fish or white meat of poultry. Darker fish and the dark meat of poultry are much higher in fat. When eating red meat, be sure you trim the fat. Choose packages of ground meat that are marked “extra lean”.
2. Drink skim milk often. The calcium and high-quality protein in milk are extremely beneficial. Even though bones may have stopped growing, the body needs calcium to prevent bone deterioration. Continue reading ‘Healthy Eating Guide For the Elderly’ »

Global Weight Loss
and Diet Management (2009 – 2014)
Report description
The global weight management market continues to grow despite the current downturn in the global economy and is estimated to reach US$586 billion in 2014 from about US$363 billion in 2009. The driving force for the global weight management market is the dramatic increase in the obese population. Sedentary but fast paced lifestyle and consumption of high calorie and under-nutritious food has contributed to the rising number of obese and overweight people. These are the main target segment of the weight management market. ( http://www.bharatbook.com/Market-Research-Reports/Global-Weight-Loss-and-Diet-Management.html )
Consumer focus on improving quality of life has increased the sale of products that claim to manage or reduce weight. The existing players in the food and beverage (F&B) market, as well as in the drugs and supplement market, have accordingly expanded their market scope to increase revenues by targeting this segment. Marginal weight loss can be attained through personal efforts, however, overweight and obesity are increasingly becoming a concern that require the intervention of professionals and other service providers. This is expanding the scope of weight management services market.

Before you had your surgery you got recommendation and counsel from doctors, nutritionists and mental health professionals. Now is the time to put all that to high-quality use. You have a head start on weight loss and now are the time to push your benefit.
Don’t Let Snacking Be an obstacle.
After the three months or so that it takes to phase in solid food, you will need to make your own selections as to what you must eat. Since you will also be taking mandatory nutritional supplements, it’s very significant that you choose well. One of the beautiful things about bariatric surgery is that you are so full of activity making sure you get the proper foods that there is little room for high fat, high calorie foods. Nor do you need them, as your system as now has been “reset” to normal, more or less.

I too, used to suffer from profuse sweating, until I discovered what I am about to reveal. My underarm sweating, sweaty palms and night sweats were a particular cause of embarrassment.
As a teenager I hated my life, and I had to disguise my constant sweating by wearing heavy woolen sweaters, multiple layers, and neutral colours that would hide my embarrassing sweaty armpits!Looking back, it must have looked ridiculous wearing a coat or woolen sweater in 90 degree temperatures?
Whether I was meeting up with friends, on a date, or just relaxing at home, my excessive sweating was a constant reminder of the torment I was going through. Admittedly it didn’t have any dangerous impact on my health, and this is one of the main reasons the medical profession doesn’t take it seriously; however it had an enormous negative impact on my social life and almost destroyed me mentally. I’m sure you know what I am talking about?

Teens and their eating habits are often questionable; since there is a significant problem with obesity in the United States today, many parents are looking for methods that will encourage their teens to make healthier food
choices. Teenagers need proper nutrition to sustain them during puberty and growth spurts. Nutrition for teenagers is easily neglected because of peer pressure and active lifestyles, often resulting in unhealthy weights and poor immune systems. Also, since most teenagers now choose their own food, they may not be getting enough nutrients from regular meals.
There are lots of the right kinds of food that taste good and will satisfy your craving for something sweet or salty. You’re probably on the right track if you haven’t heard it called junk food
. In the mood for something sweet? Skip the cake, donuts, or cookies and open a container of yogurt, or have some trail mix. If you love ice cream, try ice milk or gelato. Both have less sugar, fewer calories and are nutritionally sound. If you want salty, forget the chips, or butter dripping popcorn.
