There are many reasons for being forgetful or have a memory loss. You could have suffered from a severe head injury, or you are under lot of stress, sometime there is memory loss due to lack of sleep or if you are depressed. Memory loss is also associated with aging. As we age our physical body slows down so also aging causes the brain to function much slower.

Aging does not mean you will have a total memory loss before you die, it is just that you become slow in recollecting information. The real cause of Alzheimer’s disease is still unknown. Others contribute it to genetic factors. Some also say that it is due to unhealthy diet and minimal exercise. But there are some study that says some foods and a change in lifestyle can help minimized the risk of having Alzheimer’s disease.

One proven way of preventing Alzheimer’s is to have a nutritious diet which contains plenty of fruits and vegetables. Fruits that are proven to prevent Alzheimer’s are wild berries and pomegranate. Green leafy vegetables like spinach and broccoli can also help in preventing it. One study shows that drinking three or more glasses of fruit and vegetable juice can lower the risk of having Alzheimer’s. We must also eat food that is rich in omega-3 oil. This can be found on seeds like flax and hemp. Fish oil can also be good but be sure to get it from a good source because some fish has mercury toxicity. Mercury toxicity is another cause of Alzheimer’s. You should research first on what kinds of fish are mercury-free. This makes you safe from eating fish that has mercury. Also, antioxidants are important in preventing Alzheimer’s so be sure that you get enough antioxidants. A study conducted for biological study shows that the antioxidant that is found in strawberries contributes to the improvement of memory and protects the brain from Alzheimer’s. We should also avoid aluminum that are found in deodorants and cookware that is made in aluminum. There is also a research that shows that pre-diabetic patients had a greater risk in developing Alzheimer’s. This disease is related to the increase blood sugar levels in the body. Be sure to take extra measures to prevent diabetes.

There are many people in the world who suffer from disabilities so severe that one can’t imagine living life in the manner as they do. One of such extreme conditions is Alzheimer’s, a progressive disease that affects each and every aspect of one’s daily existence. Not only does it harm the one who is actually suffering from it, even his/her near and dear ones have a traumatic experience as the disease enters into higher stages.

Be it emotionally or in the form of helping a patient take care of himself, relatives and friends of one suffering from this disability find it extremely hard to handle the situation, which is why they take help of professionals to give proper care to the patient. There are nearly 5 million Americans with Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Dementia is a brain disorder that is generally associated with memory loss. As an Alzheimer’s caregiver, I’ve always looked for clues in a person’s life. Why did Alzheimer’s happen to this person?
