Ovarian cancer is deemed to be the most deadly gynaecological cancer and is the fifth leading cause of cancer related deaths is the United States. Claiming close to some 15,000 lives each year, it is one form of cancer difficult to recognize because it displays no symptoms till it has advanced to a very high level. Ovarian cancer stages are dependent on the size and spread of the tumor inside the body. The further treatment of ovarian cancer is dependent on which stage it has progressed to. To classify stages, doctors take help of a simple rating system from 1 to 4. Stage I is the lowest on scale whereas Stage IV is close to being fatal and is the highest on the scale. Other than that, there are also borderline tumors.
A borderline tumor consists of low grade cancerous cells which have just started growing and multiplying. These have not yet affected the ovary in any way by growing into or damaging the ovarian tissue around them. This is not considered to be a bonafide ovarian cancer stage but is still treated as one with surgery. Stage I of the disease means that it has spread to the ovaries. This may be limited to one ovary or could be present in both ovaries. A further form of stage I shows up if the cancer has spread to the surface of the ovary or found inside of the abdomen during surgery. For stage I of ovarian cancer, surgery is the most effective way to dealing with it and preventing any sort of recurrence. Continue reading ‘Ovarian Cancer Stages’ »

Thanks to the internet people have a huge opportunity to find out so much, about different treatments that otherwise would not have been possible. Of course you really have to know where to look and to your research, but the opportunity is there for everyone. Any person who has an internet connection and a computer can do research on alternative treatments for lung cancer for example and find very effective treatments.
Wortman Grape Diet
This is a very interesting and simple way to treat different types of cancers. Fred Wortman from Albany, Georgia developed malignancy of the intestine that was inoperable, so he faced prolonged radiation treatments. But because Mr. Wortman was a wide reader, he remembered a very simple treatment for cancer. He basically made this cure more simple, by reducing it down to itÅ› basics. The mesothelium is a cellular membrane covering five cavities of the human body: the pericardial (around the heart sac), pleural (around the lungs), peritoneal (around the abdominal cavity), scrotal (inside the scrotum), and the cavities in the women’s internal reproductive organs. Basically, it is the thin layer of mesodermal epithelium cells surrounding the above cavities.
Mesothelium derives from the mesoderm membrane covering the body cavity of the embryo which further develops into a layer of cells surrounding and protecting most of the internal organs. Mesothelium can be of two types: visceral mesothelium closely surrounds the organ, and parietal mesothelium is the “sac” lining the cavity.
The proteins and serosal fluid that are released between the two layers of Mesothelium make a lubricating liquid providing a slippery protective surface to facilitate movement of organs, such as the heart throbbing, the lungs breathing and the intestinal peristalsis. The lubrication allows organs to glide easily inside the cavity. Continue reading ‘Asbestos Cancer’ »

Cancer of the colon is the second most common cause of cancer deaths in the USA and there are few preventive strategies available to help fight this scourge. Some reports suggest that a diet high in animal fats and proteins increases the risk for colorectal cancer; but recent evidence has refuted that theory. Other studies have shown that bioactive compounds found in plant foods such as spices may help to counter this disease. Licorice is the latest spice to be studied in this context.
Preventive drugs
One group of compounds that have shown to help prevent colorectal cancer are the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen and the cyclooxygenase (COX-2) inhibitors such as Celebrex and Vioxx. The only problem with these drugs is that they have frequent, severe side effects such as intestinal ulceration and cardiac toxicity. Licorice on the other hand has been found to aid in the healing of ulcers by inhibiting the ulcer-causing Helicobacter bacteria. Continue reading ‘Licorice – Colon Cancer Conquerer’ »

KILL THE CANCER RIGHT AWAY
Dear Friend
Disease knows no boundaries. It doesn’t discriminate
and it isn’t bigoted.
Cancer, for instance, strikes anyone of any age,
and of any race or social background. Cancer will
find you whether you lead a healthy or unhealthy
lifestyle; whether you’re physically fit or out of
shape; whether you exercise regularly or are a
couch potato; whether you’re rich or poor, male or
female; whether you’re a vegetarian, pescetarian
or meat lover; and whether you’re an adult,
adolescent or child.
DID YOU KNOW… that 1 out of every 3 adults in
America already has cancer? But most of them
don’t know it yet because the cancer is
undiagnosed and undetected. According to the
American Cancer Society, there’s a 41% probability
that an individual, male or female, will develop
cancer in his or her lifetime (or die from it).
Additionally, every human being has cancer cells
existing in the body which are just seeking a
low-oxygen environment where they can multiply
into the full-blown disease. Continue reading ‘Kill The Cancer Right Away’ »

Whether you have a history of cancer in your family or just want to lower your odds of getting it, there are certainly steps you can take towards cancer prevention. For most, keeping yourself cancer free starts with everything you might expect, such as a healthy diet, plenty of exercise and maintaining your recommended body mass index. Of course, do not smoke, stop if you have been smoking and limit your contact with second-hand smoke. Beyond carcinogens from cigarettes, there are many other cancer-causing agents of which you may not be aware.
A body of evidence is beginning to suggest that many ordinary things we come in contact with everyday in the course of modern living can contribute to cancer. Unfortunately, a convoluted system of regulation keeps many of these products on the market or in our air and water supply. That does not mean you should be paranoid, but it does suggest that you may want to do your own research when deciding what is safe for you and your family. Prostate cancer recurrence is a very rare phenomenon as early detection helps your doctor to choose the treatment option that provides complete cure. However, if the disease spreads outside the prostate glands then there are chances that recurrence may take place. Nevertheless, there is no cause of panic as your doctor can cure the recurrence by removing the prostate glands.
However, you can use the latest preventive measures after the completion of the treatment to ensure that prostate cancer recurrence does not take place. One of the best methods of preventing the return of the disease is to use vaccination. It may sound odd but the fact is that this vaccine contains substances, which has the capability of breaking down the cancer cells and stopping the recurrence. Breast cancer is the most common disease for women and although it seems that the number of people diagnosed with this disease each year is decreasing, it is still the second leading cause of death for women (Heart disease is the number one cause).
One of the questions asked when someone is diagnosed with this illness often is: “What is causing it?” Well, there are several risk factors and although many of them are beyond our control, there are some risk factors you can control, such as weight, physical activity, smoking alcohol consumption, oral contraceptive use, Stress and anxiety,… Continue reading ‘Breast Cancer – 7 Risk Factors That You Can Control’ »

Colon cancer effects 7% of Americans and can be devastating. There is no known cure for colon cancer so early and frequent screening is necessary. The majority of cases begin as simple non-cancerous clusters of cells which are known as adenomatous polyps. While these polyps are benign, over time they can develop into colon cancers.
Adenomatous polyps themselves can be small and create very few or no symptoms at all. This is why screening is so important – once your doctor notes the presence of polyps he can remove them to prevent them turning cancerous.
But what if you have not had a screening? How do you recognize the symptoms of colon cancer? The first thing to note is that a lot of people with colorectal cancer have no symptoms at all in the disease’s early stages. When symptoms do appear they can vary greatly based on the cancer’s location and size. Continue reading ‘Do I Have Colon Cancer Symptoms?’ »

That is the opinion of the British Association of Dermatologists, which says behaviour concerning exposure to the sun’s rays is failing to improve, despite understanding of the disease increasing.
Rebecca Freeman, a spokesman for the healthcare organisation, claims that many people who believe they are protecting themselves from harmful rays are actually putting themselves at risk.
“Many people think they are protecting their skin by applying sunscreen, but then choose a product with a low protection, use it as an excuse to stay out in the sun or don’t reapply it often enough,” she explains.
According to Ms Freeman, any exposure to ultra-violet rays (UVR) can cause serious damage to the skin, whether through sunbathing or using artificial tanning booths.
The latter in particular can emit very high doses of UVR, which is a prime factor in the development of malignant melanoma – the most fatal form of skin cancer. Continue reading ‘Skin Cancer Prevention 'Not Effective Enough'’ »
