Prostate cancer is the male equivalent of breast cancer, which plagues millions of women. Fortunately, a little precaution can reduce the dangers of prostate cancer, and might even help save your life. It is crucial for men to pay attention to their health, especially as they age. Prostate cancer is the third major cause of cancer-related deaths in men. Many men do not realize the severity of this hazardous disease and fail to receive regular prostate checkups.

Prostate cancer starts with the growth of a malignant tumor inside the prostate gland and spreads by extending into the bladder, seminal vesicles, and peritoneal cavity. It eventually metastasizes to the bones, lymph nodes, lungs, liver, and kidneys. The cause of prostate cancer is unknown, although recent studies find a small relation between increased testosterone levels and high dietary fat intake. Prostate cancer is rarely occurs in men under 40 years of age. The highest level of occurrence is greatest in African-American men over 60 years old. Increased occurrence is also associated environmental exposure to cadmium, a metallic element. The lowest incidence of prostate cancer occurs in vegetarians. Global Weight Loss
and Diet Management (2009 – 2014)

Report description

The global weight management market continues to grow despite the current downturn in the global economy and is estimated to reach US$586 billion in 2014 from about US$363 billion in 2009. The driving force for the global weight management market is the dramatic increase in the obese population. Sedentary but fast paced lifestyle and consumption of high calorie and under-nutritious food has contributed to the rising number of obese and overweight people. These are the main target segment of the weight management market. ( http://www.bharatbook.com/Market-Research-Reports/Global-Weight-Loss-and-Diet-Management.html )

Consumer focus on improving quality of life has increased the sale of products that claim to manage or reduce weight. The existing players in the food and beverage (F&B) market, as well as in the drugs and supplement market, have accordingly expanded their market scope to increase revenues by targeting this segment. I recently heard from someone who had a very specific goal of losing 15 pounds in a month. She had an important outing coming up and she wanted to look her best. She wanted to know if this goal was possible after a month of Medifast meals. And, she wanted to know if perhaps there was a way to reach this goal sooner so that she could order the individual foods rather than the package. I will tell you my opinion on this in the following article.

The Amount Of Weight That The Average Person Will Lose After A Month Of Medifast: To figure out this calculation, there are a couple of places to look. You can look at the information that the company provides in its literature. You can look at other people’s personal experiences. And, you can look at the clinical studies that have been conducted on this diet.

The Medifast company literature gives the range of 2 – 5 pounds lost per week as a range that most people find themselves in. And, many forums and weight loss blog posts will indicate that this is reasonably accurate (although like with most things, there are some who do better than this and some who do worse.) In terms of clinical studies, you can consider the John Hopkins study that was conducted over 16 weeks. The men in the study lost an average of 69.71 pounds. The women lost an average of 47.5 pounds. The average of these two is 58.6 pounds. This averages out to be 3.66 pounds per week. Continue reading ‘What's a Realistic Amount of Weight Loss After a Month on Medifast? I'll Tell You’ »

If you are not familiar with the paleo diet, also known as the paleolithic, caveman or Stone Age diet, it is based on how humans ate before the Agricultural Revolution. It’s a re-creation, as much as possible in the modern world, of the hunter-gatherer’s diet.

When it comes to looking for healthy snacks, and snacks that are not fattening, there is no better place to look than the paleo diet, which rules out many junk foods typical of most snacks, such as refined sugar and grains. There are even no potatoes allowed in the paleo diet, so you can forget about potato chips!

In fact, even if you don’t strictly follow the paleo diet, you may want to seriously consider adopting it for your snack regimen. It can really make a big improvement in your eating habits, energy levels throughout the day and caloric intake. Let’s look at some of the paleo-friendly snacks we can start consuming as substitutes for the less healthy ones we are so used to. Continue reading ‘Healthy Snacks From the Paleo Diet’ »

If you are suffering from alcohol withdrawal symptoms while trying to kick your habit, making some dietary changes can also help you during this process. These changes may sound pretty common sense but they are nonetheless important, so that you can truly become alcohol free and be put back in good health.

Alcohol withdrawal symptoms include the following: trembling or shaking, various physical reactions, anxiety, insomnia and mental disturbances. This happens especially when you go cold turkey; that is you stop your habit of taking in large amounts of alcohol all of a sudden. Since your brain has already been used to the chemicals that come from your daily consumption of alcohol, withdrawing from alcohol can cause the said symptoms.

Since our childhood we have been taught that a balanced diet is the key to healthy living. But as we grow and get indulged in our daily lives, we forget the importance of a balanced diet. It becomes, at times, that it does not matter what we are eating at all. This is so because eating is an intrinsic habit of our lives and we tend to forget that whatever we are is because of what we eat. If something worth is not going in then surely one day we will be seeing it on our face. We forget that having a proper meal three-four times is as essential as is completing the project on hand. We should not let anything take over the importance of our diet.

A balanced diet is a diet that takes care of all the needs of our body. It is a diet that comprises fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals, salts and carbohydrates in the proper amounts. It refers to a diet that contains everything from vegetables, to milk, to milk products and fruits. It should be adequate enough to satisfy the body’s needs, keeping a check on the calorie intake as well. A balanced diet not only gives you a healthy living but also a better appearance. Having a balanced diet daily helps you in maintaining your weight and remaining fit. And if you are fit, you remain relaxed, energized and happy. Thus, a balanced diet helps you live a perfect life.
