Hemorrhoids are clumps of swollen tissue within the anal canal that contain not only blood vessels but also the supporting tissue consisting of muscle and elastic fibers. The swelling occurs due to the veins becoming enlarged with stimulated blood flow. Associated pain comes in the form of intense itchiness and bleeding. The condition is very uncomfortable and distressing. Some sufferers cannot sit during intense episodes. The condition is a difficult topic for many people to discuss. Surgical removal is considered the most effective cure. Since surgery is not always practical or justified, most treatments focus on relieving symptoms.

Hemorrhoids enlarge when the anal passage is strained. That occurs during bad cases of constipation or, conversely, diarrhea. Pregnancy and permanently overweight conditions can also trigger hemorrhoid flare-ups. As hemorrhoids is closely related to our digestion and excretion, one can surmise that what we eat is a huge factor in our hemorrhoids treatment. And why would it not be? One of the main causes of swollen hemorrhoids is a strained bowel movement due to unhealthy food intake and a rough digestion. It can also be due to taking the to the toilet at a wrong time. But the food intake would be a bigger factor as compared to wrong timing of the bowel movement.

Well, where food and smooth digestion is concerned, it is always better to go for food and fruits with high fiber in them. Fiber helps with the flow of digestion and also cleans up your stomach as it goes down. Fiber also helps for a soft stool out of you. We went through all the pain and went for different forms of hemorrhoids treatment to get away from the painful condition. We got pain relief supplements, we applied various creams and did sitz baths, and we consulted with our doctors. For those of us with worse hemorrhoids conditions, we went under an operation to stop the clotting and rid ourselves of the swollen hemorrhoids. And right when we can finally breathe a sigh of relief that we no longer have piles (the slang term for hemorrhoids), a thought crosses our mind. The answer is an unfortunate “yes.” Even if we went under surgery, it is still very possible that we can get hemorrhoids again. This is because we still have veins with flowing blood in our rectum no matter what. If we ever encourage strained bowel movements or the other causes of hemorrhoids again, we are most likely to end up with another painful and irritating condition.
