Many people tend to do the wrong exercises for the specific goals they set. Even if they grasp the correct workout, they appear to do it the wrong way. It is not enough to do an exercise. It must be done correctly or the whole effort is wasted. Once you begin to hit the gym, make sure you know these ones. They are important.

Barbell Curls

For this you must stand up straight holding a barbell at a shoulders width grip. The palms of your hand should be facing forward and your elbows should be close to your torso. This will be your starting position. Now simply exhale and bring the barbell upward to your chest in order to contract your biceps. Keep your upper arms stationary while raising the bar for a full rep. Hold the upwards contraction for a moment and then inhale as you bring the barbell back down again.

Triceps Pushdowns

Attach a straight or angle bar to a high pulley and grab the bar with a shoulder width. You must stand upright with a small forward lean. Your upper arms should be close to your body and perpendicular to the floor. Your forearms should be pointing towards the pulley as they hold the bar. This is a classic starting position. Now exhale and bring your arms all the way down until they are fully extended. Your upper arms should always remain stationary while your forearms should be the ones moving Continue reading ‘Muscle Building – 3 Important Exercises You Must Know’ »

Natural body building refers to a category of body building among the different types of body building such as teenage body building and female body building. As the very name suggests natural body building organisations do not promote the use of artificial body muscle enhancers like anabolic steroids and growth hormones by the contestants of their body building competitions.

Contrary to popular belief, an effective natural body building diet requires you to increase your intake not just of protein, but of carbohydrates and fats as well. It is also important to eat big portions of your natural body building diet during the morning and after working out. These are the times when your body is most receptive to the nutrients.

After you have decided that natural building is how you want to do it, then it’s important you take the correct amount of all the vitamins and nutrients that will enhance your workouts. This means popping a multi vitamin and also eating properly will send all the muscle building protein to the correct parts of the body. Continue reading ‘Muscle Building Guide for Body Builders’ »

Conjugated linoleic acid, or CLA, exploded onto the scene a few years ago and was touted as the new wonder nutrient – and with good cause. It seems CLA has a very unique ability: it can literally convert fat into muscle. CLA is a naturally occurring omega-6 fatty acid. CLA takes a different approach to fighting fat than many other products and supplements on the market. It enhances insulin sensitivity, which keeps glucose away from fat tissue, resulting in more muscle and less fat.

Eye Muscle Surgery

Eye muscle surgery is surgery to weaken, strengthen, or reposition any of the muscles that move the eyeball (the extraocular muscles).

The purpose of eye muscle surgery is generally to align the pair of eyes so that they gaze in the same direction and move together as a team, either to improve appearance or to aid in the development of binocular vision in a young child. To achieve binocular vision, the goal is to align the eyes so that the location of the image on the retina of one eye corresponds to the location of the image on the retina of the other eye….

Depth perception (stereopsis) develops around the age of three months old. For successful development of binocular vision and the ability to perceive three-dimensionally, the surgery should not be postponed past the age of four. The earlier the surgery the better the outcome, so an early diagnosis is important. Surgery may even be performed before two years old. After surgery, if binocular vision is to develop, corrective lenses and eye exercises (vision therapy) will probably be necessary. We aren’t so much talking about the physical structure of the brain itself – or are we? Medical and psychological research recently has pointed to the emerging idea that the more you exercise your brain, the better it will work in your old age and the more resistant you will be to Alzheimer’s, dementia, and general cognitive impairments. It is very difficult to say exactly how this works – what, for instance, are we to make of the recent clinical test where a group who was taught how to juggle showed a marked improvement in abstract intelligence after one month?

It is becoming certain that the less people exert themselves mentally, the less able they are to handle mental exertion. The classic case is the “couch potato”, particularly someone with a desk job by day and not much recreation beyond watching television at night. “Use it or lose it.” An interesting footnote to the couch potato effect is that the acts of sitting still and staring at a lit screen for periods of time don’t seem to be the causes of mental atrophy in themselves. Computer users do the same thing, but the difference is that computers are interactive while television demands that you sit and watch and thus, computer users – even if they’re just playing video games – tend to keep their mental skills sharp where the television-watchers slowly lose their edge.
